Deviant Art

March 4, 2010

So almost a year ago, I got a deviant art account, and have been uploading some of my drawings and (more recently) some of my digital pieces.  I just added some of my photography, too.  It’s kind of a hodgepodge of everything.  Check it out and let me know what you think!!  All feedback is welcome 🙂

Falling Umbrella

February 15, 2010

Falling UmbrellaI made this Flash animation for my class last week.  We had to do a logo animation that had to be five seconds long.  Since I LOVE LOVE LOVE Flash, I decided to make mine a little longer 🙂  I wanted my animation to be fun and playful.  I recently made a Vimeo page for my Flash stuff, and I’ll be uploading more videos soon!!  Check out my umbrella girl!!

Logo Design and Branding Trends 2009

February 10, 2010

Psychedelic pop; OrigamiLogoorange, a small design studio in Paris, wrote this article on new logo trends, claiming that more is now the new less.  Logo design is moving away from minimalism, which makes me sad.  While I love the intricacy of some of these logos, I think that simple (but playful) logos are always a good choice.  Anyways, the article is a good read and highlights trends like psychedelic pop, origami, arabesque, and street art.  Check it out!

Brushing Beauties

February 10, 2010

Brushing Beauties Scrub BrushI was at Bed Bath and Beyond the other day looking for a new scrub brush for my dishes, and I was having a really hard time finding what I wanted, until I stumbled upon this Brushing Beauty.  My mind was immediately made up.  This is great graphic design and package design.  I love it!

The company who makes these scrub brushes is called Boston Warehouse.  In their store you can find all sorts of funny kitchen utensils and such.

3rd Thursday

February 4, 2010

In downtown Orlando, there’s a gallery hop the 3rd Thursday of every month.  It’s right in the core of the Downtown Arts District.  My favorite part is the Mobile Art Gallery, put on by Lure.  They’re a design firm in Orlando, most known for their screen prints; they do posters, cards, postcards, announcements, etc.  Their stuff if great.  Well they rented a U-Haul, pimped it out with some Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling for light, and hung tons of their posters up.  It was amazing.  I wanted to carjack the U-Haul and all the posters in it.  We went to a few other galleries, too;  enjoy the pics!

Beautiful, bizarre, surreal, and dark art

December 30, 2009

These art pieces are truly beautiful.  Some of them have a grungy style while others are very soft.  They’re all pretty bizarre; just my style.

Andrew Spear @ Bold Hype

December 13, 2009

We went to see Andrew Spear at Bold Hype Gallery in Orlando, Florida.  I LOVE his art!  My favorite pieces are the ones where he draws the person out of black lines and leaves their skin mostly white.  He uses crazy detail.  I also love the color combinations he uses.  He uses colored pencil in a good amount of these works, however it doesn’t look like colored pencil; more like acrylics.  Amazing 🙂
