Geaugaroots has expanded!! (Slightly…) We now carry adorable glittery acorn ornaments for fall and winter decor. I harvested the acorns from the woods and created ornaments from them. I really like how they turned out! I think that they would look really cute tied in a bow on the outside of someone’s holiday gift. Or a few tied around a wine bottle. Then the gift receiver can hang them on their tree or decorate their house with them
It’s like an extra present with a present! (I’d be excited.)
Find them here.

I started an Etsy account about a month ago to sell jewelry holders. I first made myself one over a year ago, and have been wanting to sell them ever since. My shop is called geaugaroots… I grew up in Geauga county, and I think it’s had A LOT of influence on my style. The frames are vintage-inspired, natural, rustic, and a bit quirky. My favorite ones are the barnwood frames. I also have a lot of fun coming up with silly names for all of them, such as Sleepy Owl, Kaleidoscope, Funky Earth, and Apples to Apples (my boyfriend makes fun of me lol).
As of now, I’ve been buying frames from different places to use, but soon I hope to make frames from rough sawmill wood with the help of my dad. I’ve been in the process of branding geaugaroots… I’ve designed the logo, I had a stamp made at rubberstampchamp.com, and I’m in the process of creating handmade business cards. I even got Google Analytics for my Etsy page. We also have a blog in the works, so keep an eye out for more posts!!

Full Sail news features a few of the August 2010 graduates’ websites in an article this month! Check out some of our websites.
Also, my website is finally up and running
Please visit! I used cargo to create it, and I’d definitely recommend them to you. It’s pretty simple once you get to know their interface, and the forums are super helpful for most problems.

We have a five year old yellow lab, Jessie, who LOVES to swim. Sometimes we play catch with her in our backyard pool… She will swim and catch for hours without stopping. When we lay out in floats in the pool, she wants to come in with us, too… So a few weekends ago, we decided to see if she could lay on a float like a person. And she could! She layed out with us for an hour. She’s so funny! I had to document the whole thing. I picked the best photos and posted them on my Flickr.

I love this colors in this Georgia Beach House!! There are so many options for the color palette I created from it. I found it very inspiring. It reminds me of teapots and early summer.

The Daily City is a blog dedicated to let people know what’s going on in the greater Orlando area. A few months ago, a bunch of us went to the Mobile Art Show during Third Thursdays, and apparently, Britain and I made it on The Daily City’s website! Woot!!! Noah even made it in the background

I just finished a magazine called Feather. It is a self-help magazine dedicated to educating people about suicide and mental disorders. It is meant to provide hope for those feeling lost. I put it up on Issuu.com, and it looks really great up there!!! Also, check out my friend Noah’s magazine, Silica. I posed for his oil spill pictures
This was my first magazine layout, and I found it difficult, but a lot of fun. I really liked the challenge, and definitely plan on doing more.

For the past two months, I’ve been working on this music video, called “Pretend“… (And it’s finally on vimeo!!!) The first month was all pre-production and shooting and the second month was all editing. Although this project was very intense, I really enjoyed working on it. Shooting was so much fun… we went to a conservation area and there was hardly anyone there, so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves which was nice. It was also fun setting a fort up on my bed. I really wanted to keep it up, but the nails and duct tape kept falling out of the ceiling.
The song “Pretend” is by a Canadian band Lights. I love the lyrics to the song. I think they’re sad, but in a nostalgic kind of way. My intent was to make the music video sad, nostalgic, magical, whimsical, mysterious, enchanted, and depressing, but hopeful. I really miss being a kid and all the silly shennanigans that go along with that, and when I think about it, it gives me a bitter-sweet feeling. And that’s what I was going for. Please let me know what you think!!!!
Watch it here.

I’ve had this idea for a photo in my head for about a week now, and I finally went and executed it last weekend. I am in the process of looking for a DSLR, but for right now, all I have is a borrowed point and shoot.
Anyways, I’m happy with how this photo turned out. That being said, I think it could be a lot better. I think the background is a little distracting. Also, the hand is kind of hard to see at first glance. I want to re-shoot the idea either at night with streetlights as lighting, or on a rainy day. That would give it a more creepy feel, which I think would look sweet. Maybe I’ll make some fake blood, too. Of course, this all requires the cooperation of my boyfriend, so he can keep an eye out for cars, while I’m laying in the middle of the street.
I recommend viewing larger on my flickr.
Thoughts?
